Golden Heron

2019

18”x24” two color screen print, gold leaf

The Golden Heron watched over the gates of Paradise. He had been warned never to land on the earth, for once he did, he would never again be able to return. A prince, who had seen the beautiful bird fly overhead day after day, decided he wanted the bird for himself and tempted the heron to him with sparkling rubies. The heron, thinking he had seen the same pomegranate seeds that he fed on in paradise, swooped down to earth; the very moment he touched the ground, he was transformed into solid gold. Every moonlit night, when the first rays of moonlight touched the heron, he would return to life with mournful cries for his home.

Personal work.
